Proactive Monitoring
Definition
Proactive monitoring is the practice of continuously watching the state of critical systems, with automated alerts on anomalies, to catch and resolve problems before they affect the end user — as opposed to reactive monitoring, which only responds after a visible failure.
Why it matters for your business
The cost difference between resolving an early alert and resolving a full production outage is usually an order of magnitude. It's the highest-return investment in any critical infrastructure.
