Latency
Definition
Latency is the time it takes a data packet to travel from one point to another on the network, measured in milliseconds. It's critical for video calls, VoIP, and real-time applications; less critical for browsing or downloading large files.
Why it matters for your business
Buying 'more bandwidth' doesn't fix a latency problem — they're different metrics. If video calls keep cutting out but download speed tests fine, the problem is probably latency or link quality, not capacity.
