Network Segmentation
Definition
Network segmentation is the practice of dividing a network into isolated zones — by function, trust level, or data sensitivity — so that traffic between zones is controlled and filtered, instead of flowing freely across a flat network.
Why it matters for your business
It's the principle behind why a compromised guest device shouldn't be able to reach security cameras or the hotel management system: segmentation contains the damage instead of letting it spread.
