Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The broadest cloud services catalog on the market

What it is

AWS is the largest and longest-established public cloud platform: elastic compute (EC2), storage (S3), managed databases (RDS), networking (VPC), and an extensive catalog of additional services. It's one of the options we explicitly evaluate in every cloud-migration process, alongside Azure, GCP, and private cloud.

We work with AWS mainly on DITAP Cloud projects where the client needs the broadest service catalog on the market, or already has prior experience with its ecosystem.

When we recommend it

We recommend AWS when:

  • The workload needs to scale elastically — unpredictable traffic spikes, fast user growth — rather than a fixed sizing.
  • The client's product has globally distributed users and benefits from AWS's regional coverage and CDN.
  • The client's technical team already has prior experience with AWS or its stack (containers, managed databases, serverless services).
  • The broadest catalog of managed services (queues, machine learning, analytics) is needed without operating that infrastructure manually.
  • The client already has workloads with specific compliance requirements that AWS covers directly (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, among others).

How we implement it

Our AWS work combines architecture and operational discipline:

  • Architecture design with segmented VPCs and least-privilege IAM policies from day one, not as a later fix.
  • Phased migration planning, minimizing downtime on systems the client already runs in production.
  • Cost optimization: right-sizing instances, reserved or savings-plan instances where the usage pattern justifies it.
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform) so configuration is reproducible and auditable, not dependent on manual console changes.
  • CloudWatch configuration and proactive alerting to catch performance or security issues before they affect users.

Alternatives

AWS isn't always the right call — depending on the case, we also implement:

Microsoft Azure

a better fit if the client already runs on Microsoft 365 and Active Directory and wants unified identity.

Google Cloud Platform

preferable when the project has a strong data or machine-learning component.

Private cloud / on-premise (Proxmox)

more predictable cost for stable workloads that don't actually need elasticity.
