Challenge
The clinic ran on aging cabling with no segmentation between the administrative network, medical equipment, and video surveillance. Any network outage affected appointments, electronic health records, and billing at the same time, and there was no way to prove during an audit which device was accessing which system.
Approach
We surveyed the existing infrastructure room by room and designed a VLAN-segmented network architecture with per-device access control and centralized event logging. We prioritized migrating the critical systems first — electronic health records and billing — to minimize risk during the transition.
Solution
We upgraded the structured cabling, installed managed switches with VLAN segmentation, network access control, and centralized monitoring with alerts. The clinic's team can now show any auditor exactly which devices are connected and what traffic flows through each segment.
In the client's words
“We went from crossing our fingers before every audit to having the answer ready in minutes.”
