3-2-1 Backup
Definition
The 3-2-1 backup strategy is: 3 copies of the data, on 2 different types of media, with 1 copy offsite. It's the industry's minimum standard for real protection against data loss.
Why it matters for your business
An on-site backup protects against accidental deletion, but not against a fire, a flood, or ransomware that also encrypts connected copies. The offsite copy is what saves the operation in a real disaster.
